Protocol Converter was used in a large South African retail store (Pick n Pay) convert the propriety communication protocol to RS232 to enable pinpad card readers to be fitted to their checkout terminals. This was the first implementation of EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) in the world. This enabled their clients to pay for their goods by means of a credit card.
Over 3500 of these were installed.

Remote Status Monitors for ATMs. The Transmitter is plugged into the ATM, and when the ATM requires service or supplies aRadio Frequency signal (433Mhz) is sent to the receiver which alerts the Custodian, by means of beeping and LED indicators, to attend to the ATM. The receiver will be located elsewhere in the building. The RF range is up to 100 metres or more. A few hundred of these units have been sold to various banks locally and overseas.

A modification requested by one South African bank to overcome cheque fraud on a particular cheque processing machine. Fraudsters were making photocopies of cheques and were trying to deposit these false cheques. This modification detects that the false cheque has no MICR (magnetic ink) encoding and alerts the system that the cheque is false. A couple of hundred were installed

ATM Tamper Indicator modification. These were fitted to over 1000 ATMs at one South African bank. This modification was to detect when ATM card fraudsters attempt to tamper with an ATM, the device sends an alert message to the host computer.

 Modem Test Tool. This was commissioned by a company in Australia as a tool to measure the strength of the GPRS signal to the ATM modems so that the modems can be placed in the optimum position at installation.

UPS Interface made a standard UPS (UnInterruptable Power Supply) into an Intelligent UPS. These were used on UNIX systems to detect a power failure and perform an orderly shutdown, to prevent corruption of the operating system.

Manual cheque sorting machine. Known as a Waste Proof System. Here cheques were sorted manually to the various pockets before being sent to the cheque clearing house. Each pocket was activated by a capacitive touch switch, which confirmed that the cheque was inserted into the correct pocket, and finalized that posting. The 21 pocket housing, the touch switch mechanism and the interface to the mini computer were designed by us. A few hundred of these were sold to various South African banks. These were built to replace the previous Mecanical Waste Proof Machines which were discontinued by NCR. .... An Interface Board connects the touch switches to the machine's logic.

SMS Call Systems. Consists of a Transmitter which sends a coded signal to a Receiver connected to a PC. Can be used to. Call a supervisor in a retail application. can be used in a security application. can be used in an ATM remote branch application to call a custodian. Transmits message to a PC, which via software on the PC send a SMS to the selected recipient. Transmits at 433 Mhz or 868 Mhz. Range up to 200 metres.

Hand Held Control Unit. Used to setup certain automotive ECUs. To setup the their maps. And in many cases replaces the useof a laptop for this purpose. Also used to log data.

Barcode Reader. Converted a standard ATM statement printer to a Cheque Ussuing Printer. This allowed clients to draw Cheques as well as cash. The Barcode Read Head is made from a HP Wand Read Sensor which is mounted on the print head and scans the barcode as the print head moves accross the statement. The Read Head decodes the barcode and passes the information onto the application.
